乚 is essentially a written stroke — a vertical line that turns up at the bottom in a hook — rather than a picture of a thing, and any single meaning attached to it is doubtful. In most of the characters here it is simply the tail end of an older graph: the curling body in 也 and 巳, the bend of a blade in 匕, the lower leg in 儿 and 羌. In simplified forms it often replaces something bigger, as in 礼 (from 禮) and 轧 (where it writes the old 乙 element). So read it as a hook stroke that finishes the character, not as a word.
