豕
contributes the sense of pig or boar · Kangxi radical 152
contributes the sense of pig or boar, and by extension domestic livestock and hunting them
The original graph was a side view of a pig: a small head and snout at the top, a fat body with a line of bristles or legs hanging down, and a short tail curling off the back. Rotated upright for writing, that picture became the modern 豕 — the top stroke is the head, the long diagonal spine runs down the right, and the short strokes on the left are the legs. You can still read it that way in 家, a pig kept under a roof, or 逐, a pig with a foot below chasing after it. In 象 the shape is only a look-alike: that character grew out of a drawing of an elephant with its trunk, not a pig.
