you (你) + good (好) = hello
A person greeting you with warmth: 好 depicts a woman (女) and child (子) together, an ancient image of goodness and wellbeing. Put them side by side and you have the classic Chinese greeting.
我每天早上见到他都说你好。
wǒ měi tiān zǎo shang jiàn dào tā dōu shuō nǐ hǎo。
Every morning when I see him I say hello.
