跑步
pǎo bù
to run
to jog; (military) to march at the double
run (跑) + step (步) = to run; to jog
跑 pairs a foot radical with 包 for sound, capturing the idea of legs in rapid motion. 步 originally depicted two footprints, one ahead of the other, giving us the basic unit of movement — a step.
