Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Zigo ("Zigo", "we", "us") and govern your use of the Zigo app and website at heyzigo.com. By using Zigo you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

The service
Zigo is a Chinese learning app: a dictionary that breaks characters into their components, browsable HSK lists, spaced-repetition review, and a Reader that turns photos of Chinese text into readable, tappable text. We are always improving Zigo, so features may change over time.
Your account
You need an account for some features, such as saving characters and review. Keep your sign-in credentials secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use Zigo.
Provide accurate account information, and let us know at hello@heyzigo.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
Free and paid plans
- Searching, browsing, reading character breakdowns, and the Zigo Reader are free. Free accounts have limits on some features (such as the number of saved characters), and all accounts are subject to reasonable fair-use limits that protect the service from abuse. We may adjust these limits over time.
- Zigo Pro is a paid subscription: currently US$8 per month or US$60 per year. Prices may change; if they do for an existing subscription, we will give you advance notice before the change applies to you.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then.
- Payments are processed by third-party payment processors; we never see or store your full card details.
- Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable once a billing period has started. If something has gone wrong, email hello@heyzigo.com and we will try to make it right.
Acceptable use
When using Zigo you agree not to:
- use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these terms;
- scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract Zigo’s content or data;
- interfere with or disrupt the service, or circumvent usage limits or access controls;
- reverse engineer the service except where the law permits it despite this term;
- resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service or its content without our written permission.
Your content
Content you submit to Zigo, such as photos you scan with the Reader, remains yours. You grant us a limited licence to host and process it solely to provide the service to you. You are responsible for having the necessary rights to anything you upload.
Our content
Zigo’s software, design, and content, including character breakdowns, memory hooks, and curated lists, are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial licence to use them within the service for your own learning. Parts of the dictionary derive from openly licensed data sources, which remain subject to their own licences.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Zigo available and fast, but the service is provided without uptime guarantees, and we may modify, suspend, or discontinue features. If we materially reduce a paid feature, we will give notice, and you can cancel your subscription as described above.
Disclaimers
Zigo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Zigo is an educational tool: while we work hard on accuracy, dictionary entries, breakdowns, and generated explanations may contain errors, and you should not rely on them where accuracy is critical.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Zigo will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose or SGD 100.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Termination
You can stop using Zigo, or request deletion of your account, at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual-property, disclaimer, and liability provisions) survive.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "last updated" date; for material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Continuing to use Zigo after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
